Thank you for an interesting post and one that does cast a great deal of light on what is happening. Oh, I've just heard a new disaster may be unfolding on the Kherson front. While it does appear that the western military command may have been derelict, it does also seem that the political leadership is most to blame for what has happened, both in the first phase of the war (the misguided advances on Kiev) and this phase.
By the way, I have heard is asked where is the supposed Russian regular army said (by Wikipedia I think) to number about 850 000? What exactly are they doing? Some say that even if half this force had been used initially (and started at a better time than the spring thaw) the war might have been long over.
