GloboCap wanted a war in Europe to disrupt global energy flows and prices, and Russia ultimately delivered what they desired. I think there is a lot of theater productions all around us. I think you may be correct. I think the "production" is entitled something like: semi-powerful (post Westphalian) nation state attempts to behave like a sovereign nation (assess and protect critical security interests) against the wishes of the "international community" and gets its comeuppance.
However do keep in mind that the events in that area are not merely theater; real people - and lots of them- are suffering and dying horrible deaths. In particular, I shudder at the fate of a large number of the "locals" (as noted in the kapock comment below) in the territories newly controlled by Ukraine.
